The football community has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Nigerian football talent, Victor Akaniyene Udoh, who reportedly passed away at the age of 21 after suspected food poisoning.
According to reports by BSNSports, the former Royal Antwerp forward fell critically ill and was rushed to the hospital, where he sadly lost the battle for his life.
Udoh, born on October 18, 2004, in Akwa Ibom State, rose through the ranks after moving from Nigeria to Belgium in 2023. He impressed in Royal Antwerp’s youth setup with his performances and goals, eventually earning a first-team debut.
The promising striker also had spells with Southampton FC in England and Czech side SK Dynamo České Budějovice.
Early reports claim the young footballer had gone out with friends the night before his d+ath and was later found unresponsive the following morning. While suspicions point to food or drink poisoning, authorities are yet to officially confirm the exact cause of death.
