Kanye West vows to turn all his houses into churches

Kanye previously shared plans to build an eco-village and children’s ranch using dome prototypes.

Kanye West is reportedly converting his houses into churches in order to reduce Los Angeles' housing and poverty crises.

During a detailed interview with culture magazine 032cthe DONDA rapper spoke about ways to improve our current society, and how economic problems in the US disproportionally affect the most marginalised groups.

“We are under capitalist rule, and it’s killing us,” he remarked. “It’s time to change that.”

"I’m going to be homeless in a year. I’m going to turn all the homes I own into churches. We’re making this orphanage, and it will be a place where anyone can go. It should be like an artist commune. Food should always be available.”

Elsewhere in the sit down, the Chicago native commented on an upcoming planned performance piece titled ‘The Funeral Rehearsal Of Kanye West’. He also conceded that he possesses a “drop of corniness" to his personality.

The rapper recently met up with Los Angeles Mission CEO Reverend Troy Vaughn, as well as other philanthropic organisations, to plan out how to tackle the homelessness crisis. The result was a three-pronged strategy, encompassing food, shelter, jobs, and education.

The rapper has already gotten a head start with the first part of the plan, donating 1000 meals to the LA Mission - a generous act he plans on repeating. With the help of different charities, West seeks to provide food to the homeless throughout the city.

West has previously outlined his plans to tackle homelessness and hunger in Los Angeles, reportedly looking at using his own companies to provide education, jobs and housing to those in need.

The Grammy winner vowed to “cure homelessness and hunger” in the US during his 2020 presidential campaign last November. “We will cure hunger,” he wrote on Twitter at the time. “There are people sleeping in parking lots.”

“I was just speaking with someone that told me their life story and they used to be homeless. We must and will cure homelessness and hunger. We have the capability as a species," he continued.

West created prototypes for an ambitious housing project to ease homelessness in LA back in 2019. Unfortunately, the dome structures were torn down after it was alleged that the producer and hip-hop icon didn’t have the proper permits.

Complaints were aired by the neighbours who lived near the construction site in LA, which spurred action from inspectors who came in to evaluate. It has also been reported that Kanye had 45 days to acquire property permits or the domes were to be torn down.
